”About Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra”

Following the tradition of commencing the yatra from the West and ending in the East, the Chardham Yatra starts from Yamunotri, followed by Gangotri, and concludes in Kedarnath and Badrinath.

These holy regions are home to four sacred rivers, namely River Yamuna in Yamunotri, River Ganga in Gangotri, River Mandakini in Kedarnath, and River Alaknanda in Badrinath.

It is said,” one who visits all these holy places once in their life achieves eternal salvation or moksha.”

Itinerary

Day 1 Delhi -Haridwar

Delhi -Haridwar
• Our representative will greet you at the airport at 8 am and drive you to your hotel at Haridwar.

• Upon arrival, the hoteliers will greet you at the hotel. Relax and get ready for your day ahead.

• After a relaxing nap head out to seek blessings at the famous Mansa Devi temple or Bilwa Tirth, one of the Five Tirths in Haridwar located on the Himalayan mountains of Bilwa.

• Post Mansa Devi temple visit, experience an auspicious Har-ki Pauri Ganga Aarti along the holy Ganga ghats.

• As the day ends, spend time exploring the local and colourful market of Har-ki Pauri and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

One of the holiest sites for Hindus, Haridwar is a city in Uttrakhand where the river Ganga flows freely. It is home to many sacred ghats and temples and frequented by pilgrims throughout the year.
The evening arti at Har-ki Pauri is a meditative experience. Har-ki Pauri translates to God Shiva’s Footpaths. It’s a place where the Ganga enters the city. Make your wish come true at the Chandi Devi Temple.
The world-famous Kumbh Mela, which takes place once every 12 years, has elevated Haridwar to its international prominence.

Day 2Haridwar-Mussoorie- Barkot (180Kms/6hrs)

• Start your next day early at 5 am with Ganga Snan or holy dip at Har-ki Pauri at the Ganga ghats. (Optional)

• Post breakfast at 8 am, check out from the hotel. Start your journey to Barkot- one of the best-kept secrets and a charming land in Uttarakhand.

• Visit Mall Road and Kempty fall.

• Upon arrival, enjoy the local scenes of the quaint town and enjoy a leisure overnight stay at the hotel

• If time permit visit Lakhamandal enroute to Barkot.

Mussorie & Barkot
”Mussoorie”Queen of the Mountains, Mussoorie is the first residence of The Dalai Lama. It’s the favorite destination of honeymooners and recreation travelers. The scenic hill station with high peaks like Gun Hill offers breathtaking scenic views. A walk along the Camel Back Road is perfect to witness the picturesque beauty of the Mussoorie.
”Barkot” in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand is a sleepy town on the banks of the Yamuna River. Gaze at the massive Himalayan peaks and enjoy the local beauty of the magnificent town.

Day 3 Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (38Kms/2hrs, 5.5 Kms 2hrs trek one side)

• A power-packed excursion day awaits you. Start your day with a packed breakfast at 5 am and head out to Jankichatti.

• Start your trek for Yamunotri, the first hold land from the Char Dhams at Jankichatti after breakfast by pony famous for its hot water springs.

• Seek blessings of Goddess Yamuna at Yamunotri and take a holy dip in the hot water springs.

• Head back to Jankichatti around 2 pm and visit the Shani Temple in Kharsali situated 1km away from Jankichatti.

• End the power-packed day with a delicious dinner at your hotel in Barkot.

”Yamunotri” in the Garhwal Himalayas is endowed with an abundance of natural beauty and enchantment. It is known as the throne of Goddess Yamuna and the origin of the Yamuna river. The holy shrine is situated at the Yamunotri Temple at the foot of the hill.
Mythological legend states on Bhai Dooj Yamraj promised his sister Yamuna every person taking a dip in the holy river will attain ultimate salvation and will not go to Yamlok.
The temple’s construction dates back to the 19th century by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur and seats the silver idol of Goddess Yamuna. The Saptrishi Kund glacier here is the real source of the Yamuna River. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Yamuna is the daughter of Surya and Sandhya. A dip in the sacred waters of the Yamuna is known to wash all sins and guard against death.
Near the thermal springs of Surya, one can visit the Divya Shila rock pillar foundation, where the pilgrims offer their prayers.

Day 4Barkot –Harshil(180 Kms,7 hrs.)

• Begin your day with breakfast and depart to Harsil at 9 am.

• On Reaching at Uttarkashi visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Ji temple located along the Bhagirathi river banks.(The architecture of the temple closely resembles the popular Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi).

• Visit the sacred temples of Uttarkashi like the Shakti Temple and Hanuman Temple post darshan continue your journey towards Harsil.

• Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax at the hotel.

• Post temple visit, spend recreational time at the hotel with an overnight stay.

”Uttarkashi”, known as the ‘Kashi of the North,’ is an area with a rich cultural past and a mesmerizing charm, complete with snowy mountain views.
It is the starting point for pilgrimages to Gangotri and Yamunotri and is well-known for an old Shiva temple that attracts hundreds of visitors throughout the year. The Vishwanath temple here was initially built by Parshurama.
The entire area is blessed with heavenly history, mesmerizing natural beauty, magnificent views, and a delightful ambiance.

”Harsil” is a relatively tranquil region, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, pine woods, and beautiful flora and animals. It is close to Mukhwas, the famous abode of Goddess Gangotri.

Day 5Harsil – Gangotri – Harsil- Uttarkashi

• Depart from hotel with your packed breakfast at 5am and head towards Gangotri, the second holy land among Char Dhams.

• Take a holy dip in the sacred Bhagirathi river, the origin of river Ganga. (Optional)

• Visit the Gangotri temple and seek blessings at the Ganga Devi shrine, the highest and most holy Ganga river temple.

• On your drive back to Uttarkashi, stop at the iconic Lanka Bridge in Bhairon Ghati near Harsil in Uttarakhand and visit Gartan gali. Experience the confluence of Tibet Ganga and Bhagirathi rivers.

• Head back to your hotel in Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.

”Gangotri” is known as the throne of Goddess Ganga and marks the origin of the Ganga river. This holy shrine was constructed in the 18th century by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa.
At Gangotri, one can see the Bhagirath Shila, the sacred stone where King Bhagirath prayed to Lord Shiva to bring Ganga on Earth. The submerged Shiva lingam inside the River Bhagirathi at Gangotri signifies that Lord Shiva sat here to welcome Goddess Ganga in his hair locks.
The Pandava Gufa is at a walkable distance here, where the Pandavas meditated and took a rest on their path to Swargarohini or reaching the humble gates of heaven

Day 06 Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (230 Kms/ 7 Hrs.)

• Start a long journey towards Guptakashi post breakfast at 8 am.

• Travel amongst the hilly terrains and picturesque routes of Uttarakhand.

• Reach Guptakashi around 5 pm.

• Post arrival, visit Lord Shiva’s Vishwanath temple in Guptkashi.

• Check-in to your hotel and enjoy the overnight stay at Guptakashi.

”Guptakashi” means “hidden Kashi.” The town’s legendary heritage is linked to the Mahabharata epic. The primary attractions of Guptkashi include the old Vishwanath temple, Ardhnareshwar temple, Manikarnika Kund, and Ganga and Yamuna confluence.
It is home to the Kedarnath temple’s hereditary pilgrimage priests.
Phata is a tiny hamlet in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. It is a well-known stopover on the Kedarnath Yatra, offering a helicopter ride to Kedarnath.
Sonprayag located at the confluence of two holy rivers, the Basuki and the Mandakini, is the famed wedding place of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Day 07Guptkashi – Kedarnath - Guptkashi (By Helicopter )

• Post breakfast at the hotel, proceed towards the helipad. Departure time from the hotel is depend on the helipad reporting times. (Usual timing is between 6.30 am to 8 am)

• Fly towards Kedarnath at 3,580 meters above sea level and experience the enchanting beauty of Garhwal Himalayas.

• The Kedarnath temple is 500 meters away from the helipad. Cover the distance on foot.

• Post darshan return to Guptakashi by helicopter.

• Spend your night at the hotel in Guptakashi.

Important note:

After you reach Kedarnath, if the weather conditions are unfavourable and risky for a flight, heli services will not be functional throughout the day. In such cases, flight services only resume the next morning.

In such bad weather situations, travellers will have to spend the night at Kedarnath. We suggest you carry a simple dress change (modest dressing) for the day. Arrangement for food and accommodation will be done at a nearby lodging or tents at minimal charges.

In situations wherein the helicopter services are non-functional due to adverse weather conditions, we will be trekking towards Kedarnath on ponies or palkis. Spend the night at a lodge or tents near the temple and trek back to Guptakashi the next day.

In case of unavailability of Helicopter we will provide palki for Kedarnath Yatra.

”Kedarnath” situated near River Mandakini in the Himalayas sports a beautiful snow cover on its mountains. The temple was created in the 8th century by Hindu spiritual figure Adi Shankaracharya.
This Jyotirlinga is the Shiv-Lok on Earth (Prithvi) and is the most esteemed of the 12 respected Jyotirlingam locations in India. The conical rock structure inside is worshipped by the pilgrims as Sadashiva. Due to harsh weather conditions, the Kedarnath temple takes a six-month winter hiatus.
Gandhi Sarovar lake is the place where King Yudhishthir first ascended the steps of Swagrarohini is also located here. One can also visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bhairon temples.

Day 08Guptkashi - Ukhimath

• Post breakfast at start your tour toward Ukhimath.

• On the outskirts of Guptakashi, visit the Omkareshwar temple, popular as the winter sitting of Panch Kedar. Worship the panch Kedar lingas situated at this temple.

• Post darshan, Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 09Ukhimath - Badrinath Ji

  • Today after breakfast at 7:30 am start your journey to the fourth and final hold land among Char Dhams Badrinath Ji.
  • On reaching at Joshimath, Lord Badri’s winter seat. Seek blessings of Lord Vishnu at the Narsingh temple, which is significant of Vishnu’s fourth avatar of half lion and half-human.
  • Upon arrival at Badrinath Ji, check in to the hotel and take a rest.
  • Visit Badrinath ji, after darshan head towards Mana village, the last village of India.
  • At the picturesque village of Mana, visit the Bhimpul bridge,  Ganesh and Vyas caves.
  • Dive into history by visiting the origin of the river Saraswati at Keshav Prayag.
  • Post darshan head back towards the Hotel for an overnight stay

Joshimath – ”Joshimath” on the banks of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga near Vishnu Prayag is also Lord Badri’s winter residence since the statue is moved from Badrinath to Joshimath during the winter months. One can also visit the Valley of Flowers here. The Valley of Flower trek is another adventure trip in Uttarakhand with a colourful aura.
Tamil saints identify Divya Deshams as the most significant Vishnu shrines. There are 108 Divya Deshams in all, with 105 in India. One of these sacred places is Badrinath Temple, which attracts visitors from all over the world every year.

Badrinath-Badrinath Temple’s chief deity is Lord Vishnu, worshipped in his avatar of Badrinarayan. It was built in the 16th century by the king of Garhwal. The Neelkanth snowy top offers a pyramid-like background to the shrine.
The place also has hot water springs known as Tapt Kund, which has medicinal benefits. One can also trek to the scenic Vasundhara Falls, presenting a milky white appearance with spiritual significance. It is believed that the Pandavas passed through these falls during Swargarohini.

Day -10Badrinath - Rudraprayag

• Post breakfast, head toward Rudraprayag at 7.30 am. Enroute you will visit Dhari Devi Temple, Sankaracharya Math at Joshimath and Prayags (Vishnu Prayag, Nand Prayag, Karn prayag and Rudraprayag ).

• On arrival check in to the hotel and in the evening visit the local market for some shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel

”RUDRAPRAYAG” Devotees worldwide travel to Rudraprayag to see the incredible confluence of the two sacred rivers, Alaknanda and Mandakini. The Jagdamba temple and the Shiva temple are the two most important Hindu temples in Rudraprayag.
The Narad is said to have been elevated by Lord Shiva in the Rudra Avatar. Rudraprayag is heaven for Hindu pilgrims, explorers, nature enthusiasts, and solo travelers

Day 11Rudraprayag - Rishikesh

• Post breakfast, head toward Rishikesh at 7.30 am. Make stops to experience the enchanting Devaprayag Sangam, the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers which come together as Ganga.

• Visit Raghunath temple, one of the three Divya Deshams in Uttarakhand and travel to Rishikesh to explore the holy city.

• Post arrival, visit iconic locations like Ram jhula and Lakshman jhula and dive into history.

• Visit famous Hindu Ashrams of Rishikesh like Swarg Ashram and Parmarth Niketan.

• As the day unfolds, shop for Shaligrams and Rudrakshas at the local market and spends the night at the hotel.

Day 12Rishikesh - Delhi (Departure )
